Seaside trip!
Sedgie are dusting themselves off for a trip to the seaside, another long trip after last weeks excursion to Ashington. Sedgie did well with a scratch team last week but were well beaten by a good Ashington side. This leaves us sitting at the bottom end of the league having just the one win under our belt... Availability and injuries continues to challenge us but we are hoping some positive news on the injury front is starting to see some lads getting back to it.
Whitby also have had some mixed results also having only won once but having picked up more bonus points, they sit above us in the league. Its always a good trip, the last time though was the opening day of last season where we recorded a 36 - 18 loss with COVID robbing us of the chance to get our own back at the Wok.
Mitch Corney, Tom Ducker, Nathan Murray, Max and Sam King continue to be absent through injury, while holidays have also taken Graham Brennan, Pedro Gray, Stephen Clark and James Sleight out of contention.
We still have a strong side to take away and if we play to our strengths, we would hope to be competitive and get something out of the game.
Up front, Seb Wilkins slides to prop from Hooker, James Watson returns to number 2 and Dan Lawson has declared himself fit to play, Andy Broere lines up with Evergreen Paul McCormack in the 2nd row and the Johnson brothers Will and Charlie flank with Phil Dawson at number 8.
Nathan Waterhouse and Gareth Pratt continue their half back pairing with Chris Dawson and John Pope a new centre pairing. Out wide Danny Wolfe and Ryan Towler with Andy Fife returning to full back
On the bench a welcome return for Dan Martin to cover front row, Lee Keillor and Kyle Smith join him as our finishers.
We have Jonny Castling and Lewis White on standby... just in case it goes belly up before the weekend!
A few of our Saxons are going off to help Newton Aycliffe in their game vs Washington, hopefully this can help them get some momentum to get going again after having to pull out of the leagues. We wish them well!
