Home Sweet Home!
After what seems like an age Sedgie are back home on the Wok for only our 4th home game of the season as we approach the half way point of the league. Our last home game was the bonus point loss to Bishop Auckland in October and before that we only had 2 games at home in September so its certainly welcome not to be travelling again this weekend!
Last week Sedgie battled well but were well beaten by Gateshead in a strange game that once again we felt we were competitive in with the score not really a reflection on the game.
North Shields have had a mixed bag of results and sit in 10th place in the league having won 4 but lost 7 so far having beaten Whitby, Redcar, Seaham and Barnard Castle but not placed a win away from home yet.
The last time the sides met at the Wok was a few seasons ago when Shields were flying high unbeaten in the league and Sedgie put in one of those wonderful Sedgie performances to hold them to a 19-19 draw, a game we could have won had the game lasted a little bit longer!
Team News
Definitely out this week, Dom Ryan after suffering a head knock last week and Adam Grieve who is away with work but we are confident we will name a strong side following training tonight whilst Seb Wilkins is struggling with an ankle problem.
Graham Brennan has shaken off a knock to pack down at loosehead in an unchanged front row alongside James Watson and Dan Lawson. Pedro Gray and Charlie Johnson reacquaint their 2nd row pairing and in the back row Will Johnson and Massimo Impagliazzo continue with Mitch Corney coming in for Dom Ryan.
Gaz Pratt and Chris Dawson are again the half backs with Phil Greenbank and Lawrence Oliver in the centres, Andy Shepherd and John Pope are the wide men and Owen Robinson is at full back.
The finishers sees Tom Ducker and Bobby Blackburn covering our front 5 and there is a debut for Tom Flatters.
The Saxons lost their opposition but have a three way with Seaham and Washington!
Michael Bishop, Rich Hall (Debut), Dan Martin, Ben Norris, Doug Wardle, Stephen Portlock, Seb Wilkins, Ian Storey, Ryan Towler, Jonny Castling, Jordan Portlock, Andy Fife, Danny Wolfe, Nathan Murray, Lewis White and Kyle Sutcliffe all hoping to get a decent run around
We are starting to get our club back as we see two sides out again, that has to be our aim as we move into 2022!
C'mon Sedgie!
