Whitby in town
Sedgie welcome Whitby to the wok for our last home game in the sequence of four where we hope to try and move out of the bottom 2. Whitby occupy the spot immediately above us and a positive result will see us moving up the league in what has been a very tough season.
Whitby inflicted a heavy defeat on us in one of Sedgie's poorest displays of the season in the reverse fixture, a game that saw us end the game with 12 players after suffering some injuries, their record is similar to ours with 3 wins all season but by virtue of picking up more bonus points they are just ahead of us in the league.
Sedge were edged out by Redcar last week in a game we felt we could have and should have won. We have to just keep going again each week and Im confident we can turn the results back in our favour, certainly performances post Xmas have been much more positive.
Team News
Valentines weekend sees a lot of our courting lads on duty with the missus but we are thankfully able to name two squads with the Saxons visiting Acklam and hoping to pick up some more players before the game.
Graham Brennan, James Allison and Tom Ducker form an unchanged front row with Dan Martin returning to the 2nd row alongside Pedro Gray. The back row sees a new combo with Will Johnson and Massimo Impagliazzo joined by James Watson, who returns from injury.
The back line sees Tom Flatters continue at scrum half and Gaz Pratt return at fly half. Phil Dawson and Terry Cook are in the centres, while Ryan Towler, Andy Fife and Andy Shepherd are the back three,
The finishers are again all good game changing players, Michael Reilly is joined by two welcome returnees as Kyle Sucliffe is passed fit and Jonny Castling who features in only his 3rd appearance of the season.
The Saxons are still looking to pick up a few for the visit to Acklam but the core of the squad is there and hopeful one or two more might come forward and pull their boots on.
Michael Bishop, Neil Hetherington and Stu Walton will be an experienced front row, Chris Lowe makes a welcome return to play alongside Player coach, Paul Wilkinson who was keen to dust his boots off. Andy Broere will captain the side from the back row along side Ian Storey and AN Other!
The backs will be a mix of sophistication and pace as always in Saxons rugby with Lee Keillor, Jamie Wilson, father and son Jordan and Stephen Portlock, Thomas Cramp, Chris Frater and Lewis White all looking to get a decent run.
We would love a few more to join the Saxons this weekend as a guest, so if your club hasn't got a game and you fancy a run out we would love to hear from you... All the glory positions potentially available!!
