Darlo Derby!
With all of the awful stuff going on in the world, its nice to have rugby to look forward to for a bit of escapism on a weekend.
Sedgie welcome neighbours Darlington RFC to the Wok aiming to get back to winning ways after a couple of chastening losses to Bishop Auckland and Guisborough in the last 2 weeks. The Saxons are off to Stockton in a reverse of the fixture they won last week to take on Stocktonians.
Darlington have been in great form this season and occupy 3rd place in DN2 by virtue of 14 wins, 1 draw and just 4 losses so far, they have 74 points and ran out 63 - 0 winners over Seaham 2 weeks ago so they are having a great season. The reverse fixture saw us well beaten at Blackwell Meadows 33 - 10 in a pretty bad tempered game. Hopefully we will have a better game on Saturday.
Sedgie of course have had a couple of big losses in recent weeks but even in defeat last week to a very strong Guisborough side we played pretty well against a side that were just far too strong for us. With 6 more games to play and having caught up on our lost fixtures from early in the season we are one of the only teams up to date, we are hoping for a smooth run to the season end with no more fixtures going south!
As always, derby games have a little extra spice to them, so we are hoping we can once again upset the odds and put in one of those special Sedgie performances that shocks everyone in the league!
