Seaham at the Wok
Saturday sees Sedgie welcome Seaham to the Wok as we enter the business end of the season.
Seaham have gone on to have some great form lately and possibly produced the shock result of the season in turning over Hartlepool last week. Seaham much like us are one of the smaller clubs turning out in DN2 and its great to see another local club starting to grow and mix it up with some of the bigger clubs and taking some notable wins.
Sedgies form had improved but has taken a downward turn recently, a couple of disappointing results after looking like we had turned a corner, however, a couple of bonus point wins could make things look very different come the end of the season in terms of where we finish. Its the first time in a while we have faced Seaham at home so hopefully we will see a good contest.
Gutted to not be able to get a fixture for the Saxons which inevitably means some lads will miss out on some rugby which isn't ideal, fingers crossed for next week
TEAM NEWS
Sedgie are wrestling with a lengthening injury list which is a big test for our small squad, Definitely out, Tom Ducker and Graham Brennan joining Andy Fife, Phil Dawson, Chris Dawson, Charlie Johnson, Max King, Sam King, Paul McCormack and Dom Ryan all on the treatment table for various amounts of time, A week off on the 19th could be just what the doctor ordered. Having said that, we have pretty good strength in depth these days and when availability is good we can put out a side capable of matching most if we play to our potential.
Having lost both Graham Brennan and Tom Ducker to injury last week Mitch Corney is moved up to prop with Dan Lawson, James Watson returns to captain the side from hooker. Peter Gray and Dan Martin are a hard working 2nd row pairing while we have gone for Rob Wade and Will Johnson on the flanks. Massimo Impagliazzo is at Number 8
Nathan Waterhouse returns to scrum half with Gareth Pratt at fly half, Lawrence Oliver returns to his preferred position in the centre and is joined by Kyle Sutcliffe, Out wide Ryan Towler and Jordan Portlock will be hoping to get plenty of opportunities to run and Owen Robinson is at full back.
On the bench Ben Norris returns to the fold after some impressive displays in the Saxons since his return from injury and Andy Broere. The final spot goes to Chris Parker.
